In today's Washington Post, Pierre Omidyar outlines his key concerns about the dangerous influence social media is having on democracy.

The article also introduces a new research paper, Is Social Media a Threat to Democracy?, written by Anamitra Deb and Stacy Donohue from Omidyar Network and our colleague Tom Glaisyer from Democracy Fund. The paper outlines six issues we’ve been investigating in depth for the last several months, and includes questions on echo chambers, polarization, dark ads, algorithms, bots, and hate speech.

When Technology takes over normal living, all values and standards of life are altered, because at that point money takes precedence over morals. When reality sinks in, we start reflecting on where we have lost control over our own innovations that have made life really miserable today. There has to be a semblence of balance and restrain in the use of Technology for Self gain. Wishing for a better world where we live the past than the unpredictble future.
